About This Property
The development of Walkersons has been 35 years in the making, starting first with a family wishing to escape from the city to the transformation of their family home into a successful boutique hotel that has become the most reputable in the area.
Most recently Walkersons has evolved into the most prestigious and established Private Estate development in Dullstroom offering private ownership to a select number of investors.

Fly Fishing
Dullstroom has become renowned for its excellent fishing facilities and is the fly fishing capital of South Africa. Four kilometers of perennial rivers flow through the valley and 14 lakes and dams, all stocked with rainbow trout, make Walkersons a fly-fisher's paradise. Our Guides are on hand to help any novices come to grips with the art of Fly fishing, if you are an experienced angler then they can advise you on good spots for a great days fishing.
Fly fishing is an angling method of catching trout or salmon using artificial flies, made out of natural materials such as hair or feathers and other synthetic materials to attract fish targets. Nowadays, it is more common to find plastic and other synthetic artificial flies. Flies can be made either to float or sink and vary in sizes and colours.
Fly fishing can be done in either fresh water or salt water and whilst it was initially performed to catch trout or salmon, it can be used to catch other species of fish such as carp, pike or bass. Fly fishing enthusiasts, of all ages and of different levels of experience in this activity will find great pleasure in Dullstroom.
Dullstroom trout fishing facilities rank among the best in South Africa, offering excellent fresh water and river fishing, so much so that it is known as the capital of fly fishing. Trout was first introduced in the 1900s in this region as its cool waters and sub-alpine climate provided the ideal conditions for it.
Rainbow trout and brown trout are very commonly found in the dams and natural breeding occurs in the rivers. Dullstroom trout fishing packages can be specifically arranged and booked where fishing and accommodation are combined in an attractive deal to make your stay an enjoyable experience. You are not limited in your selection as there are several options at your disposal ranging from luxury accommodation to self-catering chalets.
If you are just passing by in the area, trout fishing may be enjoyed for the day where you can get a day pass at one of the dams. Alternatively, camping facilities are available at certain fishing dams and caravans are also available for hire. It is important to note that booking in advance is required and in many farms, fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis.
